Why does the uv rays of the sun change during the day?

Sun elevation, the higher the sun is in the sky the higher the UV radiation is, or in other words, sun elevation. Different angles or degrees of the sun depends on the three different radiations. Which is UVA,UVB and UVC. Which all have different meanings that all fall under UV radiation. UV rays also change due to the timing of the day and year, altitude, cloud cover etc which is another reason on why UV rays change.

What are the times when the uv rays of the sun are most dangerous in NZ?

The times are 9am-4pm. Many studies show that in between 9am to 4pm are the strongest timings of when UV rays are the strongest.

What affects UV radiation?

Timing of day/year, Cloud cover, altitude, reflection of things like ice and snow and closeness of the equator.

What is the UVNZ app?

The UVNZ app is an app where it tells you the timing of when sunscreen is most needed and the UV rays.

What different types of radiation does the sun send out?

UVA, UVB and UVC.

What is UVB and UVA and UVC?

• UVA, UVA is where the radiation goes deep into the skin and can/will cause different kinds of long term effects to your skin. Such as wrinkles, blotchiness, sagging of the skin, and even skin cancer.
• UVB, UVB is one of three UV radiations and probably an effective one that goes into the top layer of your skin to possibly make it cause sunburn, skin damage and skin cancer. 
• The ozone of the atmosphere absorbs most UVB from reaching the earth’s surface.
• UVC, UVC is the most dangerous type of UV radiation. 
• The ozone and oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere absorbs all UVC so none of it reaches the earth’s surface. However, there are multiple other sources of UVC, like arc welding, which all workers need to protect themselves from.

Which is the most dangerous and why?

UVC is the most dangerous kind of UVR because the shorter the wave length of the UV, the more harmful the radiation of it is. So, as UVC has the shortest wave-length it is known to be the most harmful.

Is UV exposure good for our health?

No, it causes many long term affects to the body and your health due to the exposure being able to affect the skin and the state of your body. The three UVR’s can also occur due to the lack of taking care of yourself when it comes to the exposure.

What happens when you have too little UV exposure?

Little exposure won’t do much to you but it can still be effective to the skin. Protection is needed at all toes and will be needed.

Today kodi and maejor had teached us how to use maori words within a sentence. Above I wrote the words that we learnt to relate to a image or in other words the word that would be usen for what bart simpson is doing.

This poem was written by a teacher. What do you think was her purpose in writing this poem?

This poem was written so you could get a teachers perspective on covid during school times. Another reason on the purpose of this poem is to show her students that all tough times come to a end and that you aren’t alone. Another purpose for this poem is that the teacher tried to motivate her students to fight through the tough times at all costs even if the days feel longer and the boringness of the day grows stronger. I also feel like the purpose of this poem was to show not only her students but the world as a whole that although it may be a tough time we are all going through it will come to a end, even if many bad things might pass by.

If you were a student in this class, what would you say to the teacher about the poem?

I would personally say that this poem was explained nicely and that time that she put into writing such a beautiful poem. I would also say that this poem is a very informative and thoughtful poem that must of taken a while to make. I would also explain that I was comforted by such a poem since I got to get a in tell by somebody else that tough times do affect others, or in other words, thank them for making such a poem and putting time into it for not only her students but the whole world. I would not only say all of that but probably give her a sincere hug for the great effort put into such a poem. I would also like to explain about how motivational this poem was and that it was also very informative.

If you had to change a line in this poem, what would it be and why?

‘This was to keep others safe, it was our countries rule’ , I feel like I would prefer to change this line with something else as it doesn’t make that much since unless you really think. And I personally don’t feel like you should be thinking too much about a poem as its morley something that you should scim them read thoroughly. As well as it not being a rule for the whole country since different parts of our country had different restrictions put in place and that many people would probably have a different understanding on this sentence.

What virus is this poem talking about?

Covid-19, you can tell that the poem is talking about covid-19 since it was a recent virus that some of the world is still struggling with. 

What are 4 ideas you understand about the poem?

Covid-19, you can quite strongly tell that the poem is talking about covid-19.A tough time for the world, I can have a firm understanding that the poem is giving us quite some strong in tell that the author was not the only one who had a tough time during covid-19. Online schooling, you can tell by some of the sentences that the poem is speaking about schooling during quarantining or in other words ‘online schooling’. And lastly, quarantine. You can tell clearly that she was speaking about her and her students being in quarantine and that it wasn’t as easy for all.

What ‘tough stuff’ is the poem talking about?

The ‘tough stuff’ that the poem is talking about is quarantining and covid. You can tell that it was about covid due to the title and some of the lines within the poem as well as the quarantine. It explains that ‘some people had to stay home’ and ‘coming back to school’ which gives you a thought of it being those two things. I can also use my common knowledge to use the information that the poem gave me and some of the things said to connect it with in real life things to give myself a clear understanding of what the poem is explaining.

Corona virus,

Hard and tough

Not many could take it 

as it was rough

Texting my friends is

All I wanted

Waiting days on end

Yet nobody responded

Days grew longer

Boringness grew

Oh when would this end

It wasn’t easy

Although it was hard

Life was quite breezy

Me and the rest of my classroom had gone to Te Reo by foot in the blazing hot sun all together. We had a 3 kilometres walk as a group to the place and it was quite the experience. Most didn’t like it while some enjoyed the fitness and health benefits given from it. The first thing we did when we arrived was to cut a foam square into a circle and to use colored string for the handle. After the mess and hardness from cutting up the foam and measuring the right amount of string multiple times every was ready to make the plaided handle. The girls had done it with ease while on the other hand most boys needed assistance in the making. We had to then put a plastic cover over the circle and attached the handle to it. A hour past with a lot of creativity and confusion but everyone came out of it with a poi. We then walked another 30 to an hour walk and had all been sweating. We then got to school and everyone was either happy that their poi was still in shape and the circle didn’t come off the handle or you had to walk both the handle and circle in both hands. Overall, the experience was quite the ride but overall really fun and I had a great time making poi with my friends. This experience was also created for Te reo language week and it was amazing seeing what maori use in most of their cultural practices/dances.

During yesterday I spent my time thinking of a dairy product to try and promote and by making a poster for that product. Below are some kiwiana things I listed and my ice cream product. Enjoy !! 🙂
