Kowhai and the Kowhai Tree

Today, I had read a story about how the Kowhai tree got its name. There was a young female girl who’s name was Kowhai. She lived with her mother and grandmother but her dad had been absent since she was the age of 3. She had been quite gloomy for a while and missed him a lot ever since he left. One day, she couldn’t take it anymore to the point where she ran and ran until she stopped deep into the woods. As she was walking throughout the forest she stumbled across a bright yellow tree and had sat under it. It felt so happy to her sitting under it (since it would remind her of her father), so she did it everyday until it was time to blink her last time. Once she died, they poured her ashes all over the root of her favourite tree, or in other words, the Kowhai tree which was named after her.

My positive remarks –

-I enjoyed how the author explained the story and the story line of it.

-I loved the picture drawn beside the story and how nice the colours went together.

-The story had a beautiful message given towards it on how your loved ones will always be with you and that even the smallest things, like a tree can make such a impact in your life.

Digital Footprint

Today in cyber smart we learnt that there will always be a digital footprint left behind, whether you deleted it, posted it a while ago, or even forgot all about it. Your smart footprint is the idea of taking charge of your digital footprint and thinking about what you may be posting or doing digitally. Everything you do on the internet is permanent, and leaves a mark, or… in other words, a footprint. Your digital footprint is very important, since you want to make you seen in a positive and amazing way. This poster shows my 24-hour digital footprint, and where I have been within the last 24-hours.

Embeding different Digital Learning Objects (DLO) on our blog

Embedding learning into our Blogs

By TiaraThere are lots of different types of digital learning objects we embed into our blogs on a daily basis.

My favorite thing to share on my blog is My work

The easiest learning to share is my writing in Google Docs, simply just Copy and Paste it from the Google Doc onto your blog. However, don’t forget to use CTRL + SHIFT + V so that it gets rid of the formatting. You can always change the formatting on your blog.

My monsters about me

Konnichiwa,

I’m Gen – Z ,, Thirteen (Year 8).

I’m a chubby monster who loves to help. I have a very large mouth and know nearly anything that may happen or been happening, i’m 5’7 and speak many languages like japanese, samoan, spanish etc. I’m also a new-gen monster.

My favourite subject is the Creative Arts, I absolutely adore art. Mainly because art can show ones passion on a piece of painting  but it’s also very fun to me and I love it. Not only because of that but also because I can finish a piece of painting very easily.

I gen – z, have multiple interests and hobbies. Such as, learning new languages to drawing/painting for my friends !,, but. Although I have fun hobbies like that I also have a thing for helping out in the community. Let’s just say I’m like a friendly neighbourhood monster.

Monster Narritive

It was a dark and gloomy Monday morning at school, Students drowsy and bored due to the weather. Everything was going on like a normal school day, until loud thuds were heard. Teachers who were in the staff room typing away at their keyboards went to the front of the school.

Only to find weird creatures entering the school. They all had school uniforms, bags, chromebooks and even lunch boxes equipped.
“What on earth are you doing here?!” questioned Mrs card. A large, hairy, unknown monster looking beast stepped forward.

“We are here to learn ma’am”. Staff were both confused and shocked.

“A monster, in this school?Well that’s a first, come on in!” Miss replied.

It looked like there was a large pack of them trying to enter. But miss only allowed a few in each hour. They were told to go to the upper half of the school and to enter the first classroom to learn in. Stomping away, making the dirty ground partially shake, they headed to the top of the hill and started entering the corridor. One by one. They then entered our class and looked surprised on what humans looked like at a younger stage of life.

They came in and mixed with students. Not only did we accept them in our class and not be as horrified but they were amazing friends. They had all of the qualities you would expect in a good friend. They were also really clever and it was quite shocking. Overall, you should really get a monster to be your friend, they are amazing!?

My monster

Name: My monster mate is named , Gen – Z

Appearance

The appearance of my monster isn’t as frightening as you may think. He can float in air with a light blue cloud below his feet, with lightning looking ears and yellow stripes across his torso. His appearance is quite cutesy but his powers are the opposite. He can demolish buildings and break anything in his way with the power of his lightning strike as well as the strength that he has.

Personality:

Gen – z’s personality is amazing! He is very friendly and likes helping out the community in spare time. Gen – z likes playing around with his friends and is a new generation monster who was made by a mistake during testing in a bubble gum lab.

School Assembly

Today’s school assembly was short and simple. We had done everything that you would expect in a normal one, but all online. The first thing we did for school assembly was the announcements and karakia. Destiny had done the opening karakia and it all went smooth. We then went into certificates for today, and it was kind of time consuming going through each class, one by one. Next, we did the principals speech and some pepehas. Then, I had to say the closing karakia to end the whole assembly and it was a very short one.
